FACE FILTER?!

These days, many people use social media. For example, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc. One of these things in common is communicating with others through camera filters. For example, there is an Instagram story on Instagram App. It is for users to take pictures directly through camera and put the effects on the images and then they post on their own storylines. It only exists for 24 hours.

Instagram started its Instagram story in August 2016. Now, it's been around four years; a lot of progress has been made. 'Which Disney are you?' , 'Which Harry Potter character are you?' Those filters were in vogue last year. People all over the world used these kinds of filters a lot.

The first time I used a filter wasn't Instagram. Some camera applications, for example, Soda and Snow, produce many filters. I have used them for a long time and never thought I could make those filters. Somehow I thought it needed a difficult skill.

But I found out that I can easily make and apply the filter I want through a program called Spark AR during class. It was a little shocking because the field that I thought was difficult came a little easier.

The way the program works is not that difficult. First, make the filter I want through Adobe Photoshop and export it with a png file. Then import the image into Spark AR. Apply it to the texture and send it to the application I want to test.

I tried a really simple texture. I made a blush texture and sent it to Facebook and tested it on my face and friends' faces. There was an error that seemed to be a little higher than I thought, but it was applied pretty enough. What was more interesting was that it recognized the face on the Starbucks logo. (haha)

Recently, the demand for applications like TikTok is increasing. We Could find one of the reasons in the current situation (Covid-19). Many people have different ways of living at home and sharing their lives with others. I think this demand will increase, and there is a good chance that it will develop in another direction. Through this class, I think there will be more opportunities to experience other fields. Already, by the first class, I can see that the area that I will never be able to approach has come easily.
